Tribute to Rev John Stott:
The Committee of the Diocesan Evangelical Fellowship wish to thank and praise God for the life and ministry of John Stott. We thank God for all his
teaching and preaching at All Souls, Langham Place in London and around the world in various gatherings. He was an effective, influential and inspiring
expositor of the bible, bringing the text to life and urging the listener to see Christ in the text. We are indebted to him for his many helpful and
stimulating books, totalling over fifty and covering a wide of subjects in which the motive was always to be faithful to Christ and so give Him the honour.
He exercised a long and faithful ministry, touching thousands of lives in many countries. The fact that he had the same secretary/PA for over 50 years
speaks of a warm and reliable person to work for. We praise God for the various initiatives and organisations which he nurtured into existence, not
least the first Lausanne Congress in 1974 , the first National Evangelical Anglican Congress (NEAC) in 1967 at Keele University and the second NEAC
IN 1977 at Nottingham Universtiy. and in more recent years The Langham Partnership International. We salute a man of deep faith and love for Christ,
who stated his greatest ambition "To be more like Christ"
